Events and speaking and stuff…
Over the last few years, I have been lucky to be able to get up in front of people and tell my story – sometimes to raise funds for Mind in Mid Herts and sometimes simply to reach out and raise awareness of mental ill-health. Particularly the fact that just because someone suffers ill-health doesn’t mean they can’t achieve amazing things in life – like sailing across oceans!
These are some of the past events events – you can see these over here – and here’s a little sample of what we’ve done in the past:
- Noi Club‘s Trail Event: an evening for women called to adventuresome lives to tell their story and inspire others to take on their own adventures.
- The St Albans Chamber of Commerce‘s Mental Health in the Workplace Breakfast: It was an opportunity for local business people to hear from the Centre for Mental Health and the Counselling Foundation with advice on managing mental health in a professional context. I was given the opportunity to tell of my experience as an employee going through a traumatic time and how my bosses managed me brilliantly.
- Multiple visits to Radio Verulam and segments on BBC 3 Counties Radio as well as Shine FM (South Africa). Again, an opportunity to reach out
- Pub quiz and Pirate Day at the Ye Olde Fighting Cocks and an incredible black tie charity ball at St Michaels Manor Hotel.
